OPEN. is non-profit organization founded in 2019 and Durham Regions first Creative Arts Incubator with a mission to provide safe, accessible and inclusive space for the growing population of local youth, creatives and entrepreneurs.
Our programming aims to provide accessible learning pathways, tools and mentorship opportunities for young people looking to build careers in music, film and creative entrepreneurship. Our methods include hands-on workshops, panel discussions and masterclasses with some of Canada’s leading creators and emerging talent.
Each program facilitator has been hand picked not only for their expertise, but their passion to invest into the next generation of creatives and creators.
Job Description
OPEN. is seeking a creative, self-starter to manage, engage and grow our community across channels such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You will work closely with our marketing and graphic design teams to develop, design and implement new content strategies and tactics.
The Community Manager will also function as a manager on day-to-day community engagement and will be responsible for seeking new social media opportunities and responding to comments and direct messages.
A good understanding of each platform’s analytics tools and generating monthly reports will also be required.

Who you Are
You spend your life online – you are a social native – but you are also a huge fan of culture across a range of subjects and are in touch with what’s happening offline and how that can impact the social space. You know how and when to start conversations, as well as when to participate and when to just listen. You speak through pictures, animated GIFs, emojis, short videos, memes, and capture content with everything you do. But you also understand how to speak from the perspective of a brand’s voice, not your own.
Tasks
● Develop, organize, prioritize, schedule and manage content on all social channels
● Capture & publish content (copy, photos, videos, etc) as required
● Manage pages and platforms (comments and direct messages)
● Attend and cover key events to create content for the platforms
● Foster relationships with influencers
● Monitor social listening tools and native platform analytics for top-line insights on what is working/not working on platforms
● Staying current on digital and social media trends and platform innovations and changes (such as algorithm changes)
● knowledge of social best practices in terms of formats to use, how to optimize formats across channels and experience boosting and targeting content
● Monthly reporting on campaign progress
● Identify crisis and reactive opportunities
● Be an integral part of brainstorming for larger campaigns, bringing the audience perspective to all ideas
Skills & Knowledge
● Self-motivated, team player
● Ability to create content/editorial calendars for content planning purposes
● An eye for good creative & design
● Ability to produce video & photography using your iPhone or Android phone for a variety of social pages
● Social media knowledge and a capacity to adapt to user trends
● Working knowledge of social media management tools/platforms (Percolate, Hootsuite, etc)
● Ability to work in an agile manner
● Excellent creative writing skills – you’re a writer at heart
● A hands-on ability to do what it takes to get the job done
Requirements
● Enrolled in a marketing, advertising, or journalism program at post-secondary institution is preferred
● A love and passion for social media
● Relevant social media or independent blogging experience is considered an asset
● Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment
● Keen problem solving aptitude with fresh thinking!
● Excellent interpersonal skills

Job Description
Create design content for social media pages, websites and events.
Graphic designers create visual communications to convey messages in an effective and aesthetically pleasing manner. This incorporates several tasks and responsibilities.

● Craft brand specific designs through sponsorship opportunities

● Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
● A strong passion for design with robust portfolio of expertise
